Organic Conversations
We hosted Organic Conversations on October 20th, 2022 as Sustain HK's first networking event in 2022 to explore possibilities and co-create Hong Kong's eco-conscious solutions.
We invited green experts, entrepreneurs, and curious folks to exchange ideas and join us in a series of conversations.
At this event, attendees got to offset their personal carbon footprint with Carbonbase, try beer made with bread from Breer, feel clean indoor air with Airguard, and have bites to eat with CHOMP with edible tableware from Planeteers.

🌍 About our speakers:
Arnold Hui, CFA, FRM, SCR is the Head of Policy Research and Carbon Market Governance at Carbonbase. Arnold began his career path in central banking at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. During his tenure as an ESG Director, he formulated the ESG policy and roadmap for Hong Kong’s US$500+ bn Exchange Fund, and was involved in portfolio risk management, FX trading, and corporate development. Arnold supports Carbonbase in bridging the gap between innovation and public policy to provide the easiest way for individuals and corporations to take effective actions against Climate Change, such as measuring carbon footprints, and purchasing carbon offsets etc. Arnold received a B.A. and M.A. degree in Economics from the University of Southern California. His professional credentials include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR).
Ben Wong manages and drives the strategy of Eureka Nova, a leading open innovation platform that empowers technology startups to co-create within the New World Group ecosystem of culture, creativity and innovation. Through Eureka Nova’s accelerator programs, open competitions and sandboxes, participating startups work with New World Group’s business units and corporate partners to design innovative technologies that solve real business problems. Prior to Eureka Nova, Ben founded Startup Launchpad, now Asia’s largest I.oT. startup trade event. He has helped startups raise more than $2 million on Kickstarter and indiegogo. He is an angel investor and regularly mentors in startup support programs.
Harold Yip is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Mil Mill and Secure Information Disposal Services Limited (SSID), a waste management company that applies technology and knowledge to build a circular business particularly for papers. SSID has pioneered HK’s waste industry with the use of I.o.T. since 2009. SSID has also set up HK’s first and only recycling pulp mill for used beverage cartons. Before co-founding SSID, Harold has over 20 years sales, marketing and general management experience in FMCG and office supplies industry. He had held senior positions with Lyreco, Dairy Farm and Advance Agro.
Sophiya Chiang, MIET, is a data scientist and leader in the technology start-up space with the mission to champion inclusive entrepreneurship and sustainable systems to shape the future of our cities. She is currently leading the SustainHK Project. Outside of volunteering, Sophiya is currently the Director of Product Innovation at AirGuard Industries, a data-driven IAQ consultancy providing low-carbon healthy buildings for everyone. Sophiya was previously the Head of Product and Technology at Rice Robotics and has also served as the Head of Development and an AI Engineer at a UK-based drone company. She holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Wellesley College, worked as a research assistant at the MIT Media Lab, and has an MSc in Advanced Computing from Imperial College, London.
These fireside chats will be moderated by Bryan Cheuk. Bryan is a corporate strategist at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is responsible for identifying and executing strategic initiatives that range from enhancing business operations to M&As. He is co-leading the SustainHK Project.
